The guide below can help you navigate FlightSimDB.com's many different features. Use the Table of Contents on the side for easy access to the different sections of the guide.

Airports

You can zoom in and out on the map and hover over airport icons to get their name and identifier.

Popular airports map

If you're looking for a new airport to fly into or out of, try the "Random Airport" feature.

The airport pages provide you with useful information on airport runways, radios, ILS/LOC, navaids, and parking.

Airport Details

At the top of the page, the airport identifier and name is displayed along with the city, state (if applicable), country, as well as the airport elevation underneath.

To the right of the airport identifier and name are links to the airport's page on SkyVector and FlightAware, as well as a view counter.

Below the top section is the "Airport Details" box is where you can find information about the selected airport's runways, radio frequencies, ILS/LOC information, navaids, and parking.

Header and airport details

Map

To the right of the "Airport Details" box is the map, which you can move around to view different parts of the airport. You can center the map on any of the elements in the "Airport Details" and "Nearby Details" box by simply clicking on a table row.

Hovering over the different icons display information about the element. Airports are denoted by the black and white plane icon, and air traffic control towers are denoted by a similar black and white tower icon. ILS marker beacons are denoted by pink ellipses, VORs are denoted by blue squares with a hexagon and dot in the middle, and NDBs are denoted by a red-pink circle of dots.

Below the map is a "Nearby distance" slider that can change which airports and navaids are displayed on the map based on distance with a minimum of 10 nautical miles and a maximum of 100 nautical miles.

Nearby Details

Below the "Airport Details" box is the "Nearby Details" box. This box provides information on nearby airports and navaids. The information under each tab can be sorted by clicking on the table column headers.

METAR

Below the "Nearby distance" slider is the selected airport's METAR for quick real-world weather information. Just as a reminder, FlightSimDB.com is for flight simulation use only.

Charts and Documents

If charts and documents are available for the selected airport from FlightSimDB's sources, a "Charts and Documents" box will appear below the METAR. Currently, this feature is only available for airports in the United States and airports in some European countries, but we hope to add greater compatibility soon.

Countries

The Countries page allows you to search for a country as well as select a country from the world map. It also displays a table of all of the countries on FlightSimDB.com.

The world map provides easy access to a country's page. You can hover over a country to display its name, and click the country to be taken to the country's page.

Below the world map is a list of all of the countries in which airports exist on FlightSimDB.com. You can click on a country's name to be taken to that country's page.

Each country has it's own page where you can see a list of the most popular airports within that country, and a map with plotted points for all of those airports.

The slider allows you to adjust how many airports are displayed with a minimum of 10 airports and a maximum of 100.

The States page allows you to search for a state to display the airports in that state. It also displays a table of all of the states on FlightSimDB.com.

Because of the size of FlightSimDB.com, it is not possible to check over each airport and page individually. If you stumble upon a bug while using the site, please create a post on the FlightSimDB subreddit, or contact us.
